I came here tonight to write a different post. To tell you about my weekend with 19 five through nine-year-olds in a post filled with colorful details.
But when I arrived, my “reader” popped up and a post by The Cancer Curmudgeon caught my eye. I love her cancer posts because they are authentic and honest. I know her no nonsense way of discussing cancer isn’t for everyone, but I personally find it refreshing.
Anyway, when she posts something or reblogs something or points readers to an article or site, I take the time to visit/read whatever she deems worthy.
But I wasn’t coming here to read tonight. I was coming here to write.
Until I saw her post about The Battle We Didn’t Choose. It is a site written by a husband whose wife had breast cancer. The story and the photos are incredibly moving and real. An honest look at CANCER.
I hope you take the time to visit The Battle We Didn’t Choose (story here) (photos here). I think it’s an important site for everyone to see.
Caution: If you have lost someone close to you to cancer, the images may be especially overwhelming.
Oh, L . . . . what an incredibly powerful photojournal. I was moved to tears even before reading the text. To think of the things I complain of today, I am ashamed. I have so much for which to be grateful, and am reminded how this could be any of us. Be thankful for the day.

Thanks, Kat… What a thoughtful comment. And so true that this lovely woman could be anyone — cancer really doesn’t discriminate. I’m so glad you took the time to visit the site — and to share your thoughts with me. xo

Though I don’t know them, I am grieving right along with you. It’s such an unforgiving way to die… Thank you for reading / viewing their story — and for taking the time to comment.
(P.S. My thoughts are with you as you manage this difficult week.)
