This touches my heart. Tears to my eyes … So nice of you to allow your son to share his thoughts. Some forget how the young children are affected. Thank you for your posts.

Thank you, Tracy… He asked to write something, and he wouldn’t let me see it until he was finished. Even I was a bit taken aback by it. But I am glad he is expressing his thoughts in writing. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

Thank you for sharing this very touching message from your son – kids really get to the heart of things, and keep it real. Conversations with kids can be one of the most difficult thing to do as you go through cancer. http://youtu.be/oSAPHGJfnws

So true, Oliver… Deciding how much to share with them has been one of the most difficult elements for me. I still struggle with my wording and with choosing what to say/not say.
Thank you so much for your comment!

Before retiring, I was for many years an elementary school counselor, so I know from experience the stress this puts on kids. It’s wonderful how you let him write his feelings here on your blog. It’s so important to keep the communication flowing …. but you obviously know that. Please tell him that someone here in Pennsylvania loved his post. 🙂

I will give him your message in the morning & I’m sure he will be pleased that you loved his post! Thank you for sharing your perspective as a school counselor. It must have been a difficult but rewarding role. The boys see their school counselor regularly, but I still worry that they need more outlets. That’s why I am always thrilled when they tell me they would like to write “something.”
Thanks so much! 🙂
